FLOWER POWER!

So as everyone already knows, my pieces are always hopelessly feminine! but whenever i accidentally end up making a piece that is too girly, i just contrast that with a glaze that is a little less so. Such as wood-firing. and it always works! i got my gold key for my sarah davis piece which i used that method on. (thats funny when i later found out that she was one of the judges) hehe. but anyways, this is my latest piece, a flower teapot. i have literally not made a teapot for over a year so my skills were a little rusty. I'm really proud of the lid, which is a completely functional fitted lid. however, im very dissapointed with my spout because not only does it look a little weird, but also its not very functional because i attatched it too low at the base and so when it is filled up with water, it might start to over flow. So, i think i am going to take off the spout and cover the mark with a slab and turn it into a lidded pot/jar. and then im gonna make two smaller ones to make a set. Although this project didnt turn out how i wanted it to, it still transfoprmed into a good idea in the end, which i love!

TEAPOTS

hey! this week im moving onto a new project, a teapot! one thing i love is playing with different shapes of a teapot. and of course, i still have to keep my concentration in mind and make the surface nature-y, sorta. here's a few images of teapots that i love! ^^

This week....

This week im working on a new project, a tea pot! i haven't made teapot in a while so im predicting that it's gonna take me a while.....especially the lid. but im envisioning a really funky one that's a little bit untraditional, yet still functional. This picture is of the last sake bottle i finished last class.

end of the week!

So its the end of the week and I'm glad that my finals are over. However, I can't deny that I'm a litle dissapointed in my self as far as my projects go. I didn't finish as much as I wanted to. But one thing that I'm really proud of is my sake set! Here is the finished product at thr greenware stage!

PS-I vote that our class do group critiques because doing one as a class will take a lot longer and less attention will be payed to each individual piece.

I AM MAD.

NOTE TO EVERYONE: IF YOU MUST TOUCH THINGS ON THE GREENWARE CART, DO SO WITH SO MUCH CARE AND GENTLENESS THAT YOU FEEL LIKE YOUR CRADLING A NEWBORN CHILD. TOO MANY OF MY THINGS HAVE BEEN BROKEN, CHIPPED, OR JUST VANDALIZED IN GENERAL AND IM SICK OF IT. rawr.

but anyways I'm over it. And I am working on my bathroom set this week. its coming along pretty good except my throwing mojo is a little off this week. -_-
